Tintwistle is a Church of England Aided Primary School catering for the educational needs of children between the ages of four and eleven in our village community.

The maximum number admitted each year into the reception group is 17.
We have a modern, spacious building with views over beautiful countryside and our new Foundation Stage Unit was opened in October 2007. We work in partnership with Jack in a Box pre school to provide care and education for three and four year olds.

PROJECT WORK

This page is full of the peices of work produced by children aged between four and eleven. Class four children produced a display on 'Going Round' which linked science, maths art and geography. Some of their work was displayed in an exhibition at Gamesley. The work is linked to a project to create a large ceramic tile to be displayed locally.

Class 1 have been painting themselves and putting the pictures next to their photographs.

Class 2 have been making skeletons using split pins to join the body parts together.

Class 3 have been busy making money spiders. The year three children had to find the right amount of money in its eight legs. The year four children had to find the change from £1 and divide the answer into its legs.

CLUBS

Introduction
At Tintwistle there are a variety of different clubs to join, both after school and at lunchtimes. Most clubs are run by a member of school staff and are free. A small charge is payable for gymnastics club, which is run by a professional coach. Clubs change regularly and last year included tag rugby, netball and orienteering - so watch this space!
Football Club
Friday 3.30pm - 4.30pm

Coach: Mr Vere

The football club is open to both boys and girls from year three to year six. Mr Vere is a volunteer and has a great deal of experience of coaching local teams. The girls have played in a 5 aside tournament at St. Mary's this year and the boys have played in the Community Cup at Powerleague in Stockport.
Gymnastics

This club is open to children from year two upwards. The cost is approximately £16 per term. The children are encouraged to work their way through the BAGA award scheme and have enjoyed demonstrating their routines to their parents.
Art and Gardening Club
Wednesday 3.30pm - 4.30pm

This is held by Mr Danson and is based in his classroom. The club is open to children from year 3 to year 6. When the weather is fine the children enjoy gardening in the school grounds, they have already created a beautiful sensory garden this year. When it is cold and wet the club moves indoors and art activities take over, such as making props and scenery for school plays.

This is held by Mrs Griffin in the library and is open to children in years 5 and 6. Beginners and experienced players are all welcome. The children enjoy challenging each other to see if they can get to the top of the chess ladder.
