International Map

The University of Bolton (formerly Bolton Institute) has a long and distinguished record of welcoming students from all over the world. There are students of over 70 nationalities currently studying a wide range of courses to gain internationally recognised qualifications. Students come from as near as France and as far away as Vietnam.

These pages bring together information that is just for International Students as well as information on living and studying in Bolton which we hope will be useful.

The Centre for International Relations| was established in 2002 and provides information, help and advice to international partners and students. We can help you before you join the university, throughout your studies here, and after you graduate. The university has a dedicated International Student Welfare Adviser.

We can promise you a warm welcome and a first class education from one of the newest and most innovative universities in the United Kingdom. We enjoy a well established and thriving community of international students which has helped to create the friendly and caring environment for which we are well known around the world. You may be many thousands of miles away from your home but you will be among friends who understand your concerns and want you to feel the special atmosphere that creates the Bolton experience.

The International Society| is the most popular and friendly club on campus and organises trips across the UK, and a wide range of social and cultural events.

The Student Information Service| is at the heart of campus and a team of staff is available to help all students with any problems they might have, and to answer questions and queries. Here students can access a range of services including: counselling|; multi-faith chaplaincy|; financial information; accommodation information|; careers and employment services|.

When you graduate, we want you to take home fond memories of being at Bolton. It is, therefore, important that you not only study hard but that you also thoroughly enjoy your time with us and build up your life experiences in British higher education. Upon your graduation you will automatically become a member of the University of Bolton Alumni Association|.

The university offers accommodation to all first year students in our purpose built Halls of Residence. Halls are next to campus and within easy walking distance of the town centre, shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, sports facilities, transport and all amenities. You can find out more by visiting the Accommodation| pages.

Bolton is a large, lively town close to the cities of Manchester and Liverpool, and near to beautiful countryside. For more information on living and studying in Bolton, please see the Bolton Life| pages.
