ABOUT US

Uplands is a school that continually prides itself on being a thriving, forward thinking School, with a vibrant atmosphere, catering for a wide range of abilities and producing well-rounded individuals. Uplands staff work closely with all its pupils to promote independence, individuality and confidence. We would welcome you to visit us to see our school in its entirety and look forward to meeting you when you do.

AIMS

At Uplands we aim to provide a positive and happy environment in which all pupils feel secure, confident and inspired to learn. We provide a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum which promotes the academic, social, moral, physical and cultural development of each and every child in our care. Pupils are encouraged to become independent and creative learners and to foster high levels of self esteem. Our small class sizes, with an average of 15 pupils in each class, ensure that each child’s progress is monitored closely and teaching is tailored towards the needs of the individual. The curriculum at Uplands is based on the National Curriculum but with additional subjects, and pupils are prepared for Key Stage Tests. Our teaching methods cater for a range of abilities, and performance in the Key Stage Tests is above the national average.

FACILITIES

Uplands is set in 5 acres of gently sloping woodland, not far from the coast, with its own playing field, three tennis courts/ netball courts, two sports halls and a heated indoor swimming pool.

At Uplands we are proud of our experienced and well-qualified teachers and support staff who are committed to providing the best quality of teaching and pastoral care for the pupils.

All pupils have a school lunch which is freshly prepared on the premises daily. We offer a wide choice of both hot and cold options reflecting our commitment to healthy eating.

In addition to an Information and Communication Technology Room that is fully equipped, we have high specification computers and an interactive whiteboard in the Design Technology area, as well as an ICT suite adjoining the Library. There are several interactive whiteboards throughout the school available to pupils from Reception class up to Year 11. The Music depatment is equipped with the latest Music creating and editing technology.

There are three fully equipped science laboratories each staffed by specialist teachers.

Uplands School has the facilities to offer after school and holiday care. Our facility is available to Uplands pupils from the ages 3 to 16, and during holiday times is available to over 8's from other schools in the area.

JUNIOR SCHOOL

At Uplands Junior School we take great pride in our friendly, welcoming and stimulating learning environment.

Teachers are committed to providing the best quality of teaching and pastoral care for their pupils, while consistently attaining excellent results.

Our children are happy, polite and articulate, and enthusiastic to learn. We encourage traditional values and modern teaching methods.

Uplands provides a broad, balanced curriculum enriched with specialist subjects and a growing programme of extra-curricular activities; where pupils can develop at their own pace.
