Welcome to Upton Heath C of E Primary School

'The school strives for excellence in everything that it does and this is reflected in the staff's shared commitment to give the very best to all pupils.'

We hope you enjoy visiting our site and sharing in the life of our school. We greatly value the partnership between home, school and Parish, and we hope to continue to foster a strong positive interaction through this website.

Our aim is to provide useful information to prospective and current parents, as well as celebrating our pupils' progress and achievements. We feature examples of the children's work, so look through the "classes" section and discover the wide range of talents and skills in our school. Also you can get a feel for our classrooms by looking at some of the displays on show.

At Upton there is a warm and friendly atmosphere where all staff place the needs and welfare of each individual child at the forefront of school life.

All the staff are committed to providing a secure, happy and trusting environment where children feel free to develop self esteem, confidence and a belief in their own abilities.

adventure-playground.jpg (71709 bytes) We want children enjoy coming to school and to take home and share their learning experiences with friends and family. Only when children are happy and comfortable in their surroundings will they be able to take full advantage of school life and develop to their full potential.

Education at Upton is based on firmness combined with praise, encouragement, positive reinforcement and providing a stimulating yet challenging curriculum for all.

We also place enormous value on the need of the child to develop socially and to interact positively with those around them; to listen to and relate to the points of view of others in a responsible way; to  boys-on-bench.jpg (54092 bytes)
value their own and other cultures and the right of others to their own beliefs; to be honest, caring and trustful; to be tolerant and understanding and to develop an awareness of the important contribution that they can make to the community and the environment.

We see children as individuals with differing needs and strengths. Our aim is to extend and support all children and help them to achieve their full potential. We have high but realistic expectations. We want children to give of their best, appreciate what they can do well and what they could make better. We work to give children a thorough grounding in basic skills; to develop a lively interest and curiosity about the world in which they live; to experience a wide curriculum that includes the creative arts and physical activities, and to develop a love of learning that will stay with them in later life.
