Welcome to the Wallands School!
We are proud of our happy and high achieving school situated between the northern-west edge of Lewes and the South Downs.
Wallands is the largest primary school in Lewes with 2 classes in each year group and a Nursery. It was built in 1951 and is a classic 1950’s building which, bit by bit, we are bringing up to date, including the recent addition of new classrooms. We have fabulous school grounds and play facilities with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.
Wallands was praised as a "particularly successful school" by OFSTED in 2004.
The excellent morning Nursery is staffed by a fully qualified teacher and is the perfect preparation for starting school and we provide afternoon childcare on the same site. This is available to children from the term after their 3rd birthday and provides 3 hour sessions.
The school is fully adapted for wheelchair access.
We are a school that is very open to parents. There are regular consultations with pupils and parents, and parents are invited into class once each half term to celebrate their child's work. Many parents volunteer regularly to work in class.
The PTA are very active and provide many social and fundraising events for the school including our famous Discos!
You may read our Development Plan in the Prospectus or in the Governors Annual Report.
