Warley Road Primary School
Warley Road, HX1 3TG Halifax

The school consists of two Victorian buildings. The largest building contains the classes for the older children, the main hall, a computer suite containing 15 computers, the school offices , 21 teaching bases, school mentors office, school library music room, a swimming pool, 2 dining rooms and school kitchen.
The Reception classrooms are in the little building containing a small hall, 3 classrooms, and a computer suite. The new Nursery is also housed in this building along with our new family learning base. There are two playgrounds. One of our playgrounds has an arrangement of seating and games for the children to use.
We have a smart point system in school for the children. Points are earned for different things in and out of school, not just in the classroom or for behaviour.
Points are added up each week and accumulated over each term, the children then earn a reward for the most points.
Check out the house points page to find out more.
Our classrooms all have computers for the children to use during the day as part of their learning through literacy, numeracy, science, and topic work.
We also have 2 computer suites one for each keystage which are used by each class on a regular basis to enhance their ICT skills.
We have a dedicated games teacher who does after school clubs, teaching football, netball and gymnastics, we also have a new music teacher who is starting a new school choir in the new year, more news about that later so keep checking us out.
The Aims of our School
Hello and welcome to Warley Road Primary School. We are a community school in the Halifax area of Calderdale.

The aims of our school are:

To foster a climate of mutual respect and personal responsibilty.
To encourage the partnership between the school, the home and the community.
To foster a friendly, caring environment that is stimulating and secure and caters for all pupils needs.
To develop self esteem through success and achievement of personal goals
Our School Day
The school operates an open entry system and parents and well behaved children are welcome into the school building from approximately 8.40 am when they can choose books from the class library areas, chat to their class teacher or work quietly in their classroom. The older children will have some early work for them to engage in.

Registration is taken promptly at 9.00 am after this time the children will be marked down in the school late book which is monitored by the Headteacher and the home school liaison officers. Lunchtime is from 12 noon until 1 pm for Reception and KS1, 12.30 until 1.30pm for KS2. The school day ends at 3.30 pm.
Reception
The Reception children work within the Foundation stage, which builds upon the Early Learning Goals of education. The children work in the areas of Language and Literacy, Maths, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Creative, Physical and Personal and Social Development.
Those children who are ready to work are encouraged to do so , right from their entry into school. Those who are in need of structured and developmental play are given this time. The Reception classes lay the foundation for your child's education.

All the new Reception class children and parents have the opportunity of meeting their class teacher and support assistants in the summer term prior to them starting school. Parents and children are invited to school for coffee and biscuits. There is also a half day visit at the end of the summer tem and an evening meeting for all parents. These visits are very important as they give parents all the information they will need for thier child's start to school.
Reception children only attend school part time for the first 2 weeks so that their transition into school is as happy and smooth as possible. After 2 weeks they attend full time and can also stay for dinner or bring a packed lunch.
