WELCOME!

West Borough Primary School is a 2 class entry school with a Nursery. We pride ourselves on the creative and nuturing environment we provide our pupils.

The School has been here since 1915 and was one of the original four council schools (north, south, east and west – borough).  We have had an extensive building programme over recent years and now have a very modern Year R and Key Stage 1 building designed for the 21st century and a purpose built nursery catering for children from age 3.

The new accommodation has large rooms with lots of space and resources including two fenced activity/play areas designed specifically for us.  The Key Stage 2 building has been extensively modernised and extended over the years too.  We have a hall and a library in each building. The library was provided by the PTFA (Parent, Teacher, Friends Association) and is constantly replenished to keep pace with our ever-changing curriculum.

We have a purpose built computer suite with 30 machines.  The network is linked to each classroom where there are further computers so that ICT is used regularly throughout the school day. Each classroom and the ICT suite have a ‘Smartboard’ which is used to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.

OUR VISION

‘Enjoy and Achieve'

At West Borough Primary School we instil a fascination and respect for others and the world around us.

Within our creative environment, we foster life skills. This gives us the opportunity to learn, take responsibility and to become independent citizens.

OUR AIMS

All children should be happy and successful during their time at West Borough Primary School. We aim:

  1. To build on each child's strength, interests and experiences so that they acquire, develop and apply a wide range of skills and knowledge.
  2. To promote physical and mental skills and to develop children's self-confidence so that they are able to work independently and collaboratively.
  3. We actively promote equal opportunities and strive to develop children's spiritual, moral social and cultural development so that they are equipped for the challenges, responsibilities and opportunities of adult life.
