Old Hall Community Primary School
Old Hall Primary School opened in February 1982. It caters for children between the ages of four and eleven. The school presently has an annual admission limit of 60 children and has a full complement of children with 400 on roll.
The school is a bright, modern building with fourteen classes, two multipurpose halls, a library, administration block, computer suite and two playgrounds. There are also two community rooms and the school is set in pleasing surroundings with extensive playing fields. The school is very well maintained with high standards of facilities and decor. The Governors are constantly seeking to upgrade the physical environment of the school.
Importantly, the school recognises the need to ensure the security of our children. Consequently, access is restricted via one main door which has remote locking and video facilities.

Class Organisation
Old Hall recognises that smaller class sizes are more appropriate for learning. One teacher takes responsibility for each class. Children are taught in classes according to their age, and boys and girls are educated together in all aspects of the curriculum. Children with specific difficulties are mainly catered for within the framework of a normal class situation.

Curriculum Statement
Our school aims refer to promoting and celebrating high standards of teaching and learning through:
- High expectations, challenge and a focus on improvement.
- Offering a broad and balanced curriculum, developing basic skills as a gateway to lifelong learning.
- Recognising attainment, progress and effort equally.
Our school improvement plan further contains specific management objectives related to learning and of relevance to this curriculum statement.
At Old Hall Primary school, we will offer a relevant, differentiated, broad and balanced curriculum to all our children. There will be equal access to all children, regardless of their ability, gender, creed, race or physical ability.
The curriculum offered at Old Hall Primary school will be at least in line with the requirements of the most recent update of the National Curriculum ( September 2000 ). In some areas, provision will exceed that required by the National Curriculum.
Our school will deliver curriculum objectives through the discrete teaching of all subjects. There will be a daily input of numeracy and literacy with discrete weekly lessons in physical education, religious education, science, information and communication technology. History, geography, art and design technology, whilst taught discretely, will be taught through six week "modules".
