Mission Statement

"We want our children to be happy, healthy, safe and successful, to believe in themselves and to make a positive mark in the community."

Admissions

We are delighted that so many parents choose Westerton for their child. Our school is very popular and each year we receive many applications for our nursery department and main school.  For more details about the admissions criteria that Education Leeds apply in the event of oversubscription, please see under Admissions in our school brochure.

Nursery

If you are interested in your child coming to Westerton Nursery you should contact our School Office on 0113-2533504.  We will record your child's details and send out admission forms approximately two months before the start of the term in which your child will join our nursery.  We admit children in the term after the term following the child's third birthday, providing that there are places available.  We offer places to children living in the locality and try to give places to children in age order to ensure the child receives at least two terms in the nursery before starting full time school. We hold a meeting in the month before term starts to brief parents on what to expect when their child starts.

Our nursery has a morning and an afternoon session and you will be offered a choice of these.  Unfortunately we cannot always guarantee your choice because in any one year one session may prove more popular.

We are happy to show parents round but because of the large numbers on roll we may ask if you wouldn't mind viewing as part of a group.

Please note that attendance at our nursery does not guarantee admission to our main school.

Main School

Places for the main school are allocated by Education Leeds.

Parents of children due to start in their reception year will need to complete a preference form and return it to school by a deadline, usually October half-term.  You may receive a form from Leeds City Council through the post or you may need to collect one from any local primary school or ourselves.

For admission into any other year group (i.e. Year 1 to Year 6) contact Education Leeds 0113- 2475729 or the School Office

To help you to make your choice the headteacher or a member of senior staff will be happy to show you round and you are welcome to arrange an appointment through the School Office.

Decisions on admissions to the reception year group are normally made by March each year.  If you are unsuccessful there is a right of appeal, although where the class limit of 30 has been reached in infant classes, it is unlikely that the appeal would succeed.

To apply for a place online click here: www.educationleeds.co.uk

This link will only operate from August to October half term.
