We Aim to

  • Create a happy, welcoming and successful school where everyone is able to share in shaping future generations
  • Provide an appropriate broad and balanced curriculum within a stimulating learning environment
  • Celebrate everyone's successes and achievements with equal opportunities for all
  • Encourage and challenge everyone to reach his or her own potential
  • Foster a secure and caring school where mutual respect is developed
  • Support and encourage the rights of parents to partner us in the education of their child. We value each child, their family and the wider community, of which this school is a part

The School Library

Our Classes

The children are taught in the following class structure:

  • Foundation Stage - two classes of Nursery and Reception pupils taught in two large multi-functional areas.
  • 3 classes of mixed Year 1 and 2 pupils
  • 3 classes of mixed Year 3 and 4 pupils
  • A Learning Support Base to help support children's learning and social development
  • Rainbow House - a nurture group to support children in their early years in school

The children have the opportunity to work individually and in groups of various sizes. Throughout the school children are encouraged to take progressively more responsibility for their own learning and develop the ability to make worthwhile choices.

Foundation Stage

Spring Term 1 Topic: Toys

This half term the children in Foundation stage will be learning all about toys. We will be talking about our favourite toys and finding out if these are different to the toys our parents and grandparents enjoyed when they were children. Of course having favourite toys means we are going to have to take turns and share. We have been working hard at learning this and are already quite good but there?s always room for improvement!

One of our favourite toys in class are our building blocks. We will be using these to make lots of buildings, which will help to develop our planning, making and evaluating skills. We will be learning the story of the 3 little pigs and hope to have a real builder come to visit and show us how to build a real wall. We are going to be visiting our wonderful new school forest this term and will be using what we learn there to build our own house of sticks.

We will be learning to look carefully to find out how toys move and we will visit the local park to investigate the moving toys there. We enjoy taking our learning away from the classroom and making links with the outside world.

All these experiences will give us lots to talk and write about so we can practice these skills too.

We hope to have a lot of fun while we learn!
