Whitchurch Primary School

Whitchurch Primary School is a four-classroom school built in 1965, in a quiet, safe location designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Two of the classrooms face the wooded slopes of Whitchurch Hill and are separated from the other two classrooms by the school hall. The hall serves as a gymnasium, television room and dining hall, and has bays around the sides which house the school ICT suite, music instruments plus resources for humanities and science teaching.

In the school grounds there is a hard-surface netball court, a grass football pitch, adventure and woodland areas, a pond and meadow, and ample open play areas.

Whitchurch Pre-School also operates from a classroom within the school grounds, and shares a garden with the Foundation Stage children.

Class 2 The immediate environs of the school, the village of Whitchurch on Thames and the nearby River Thames all provide rewarding opportunities for fieldwork studies through which the pupils can learn to understand key concepts across the whole spectrum of the curriculum.

A maximum of 105 children attend the school, divided into four classes, each of which has a page on this site to display their work.

Dear Parents,

Grant MottramWelcome to our school. Whitchurch is a lively village school situated near the River Thames in a beautiful setting.

Our school is a happy and exciting place for learning, playing games and exploring our special environment. The school is at the heart of the community and as such the children learn consideration for others and to appreciate the different skills and talents that surround them.

Our classes are small and therefore allow us to concentrate on each individual child. We want our children to receive an education of the highest quality and to develop their full potential, not only intellectually, but also creatively, spiritually and morally, but the greatest emphasis is on the development of motivated and self-confident children.

This website contains just a glimpse of the school, if you are deciding on a school for your child, we urge you to make an appoinment to come and visit us whilst we are hard at work and play.

Key stage 2 revision - BBC Bitesize: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/

The AFC Whitchurch website can be found at: www.afcwhitchurch.co.uk. AFC Whitchurch is a junior football club for players in Whitchurch on Thames, Whitchurch Hill, and the surrounding villages including Woodcote and Goring-on-Thames.

The club currently has seven teams ranging in ages from 6 to 15 years old, both boys and girls. The aim is to encourage players to enjoy themselves in a team environment and learn basic football skills. Winning is great, but we really do want any player to feel welcome regardless of skill level. It's a good way to achieve a level of fitness while having fun and making friends.

Players attend a one hour local training session each week, plus an organised match against another junior league team held on Saturdays(Sundays for the oldest teams). Each team has one or more coaches that are usually parents of players, always qualified for coaching, first aid and child protection.

Anyone who thinks they might like to join is encouraged to come along to a training session and participate or just watch. Please visit the website to find contact details and either just turn up at one of the advertised training venues or contact anyone at the club for a chat and further information.

Whitchurch and Goring Heath Twinning Society link: www.whitchurchtwinning.org.uk.

The aim of the Twinning Association is to foster Anglo-French relations. It offers an opportunity to make friends on the other side of the Channel, get to know your Whitchurch and Goring Heath neighbours better, participate in the French way of life, explore a beautiful region of France and practise your French.

If you don't speak a word of French there are plenty of English-speakers who will be happy to host you.

The Twinning Association was founded in 1978 and has gone from strength to strength since then.
