There are few things of greater importance for parents than the education of their child. The selection of the right school is, therefore, a crucial decision. I hope that the information in this prospectus will help you make that decision and give an insight into how we endeavour to meet the needs of all our children. Our primary aim at Yealmpstone Farm is to provide a happy, balanced and challenging environment in which children can fulfil their individual talents and respect one another as equals.

We believe in developing a child’s independence and fostering their desire to learn throughout life. This is done by providing a lively, broad and balanced education, stimulated by first hand experiences and a wide range of learning activities based on the National Curriculum.

Regular contact between school and parents is an important element in the educational and social development of the child. By working as a team we can ensure that the time spent in primary school is qualitative and enjoyable and shared by us all. As the relationship between school and home is fundamental to the school’s philosophy we hope you will feel welcome to visit the school at any time. A convenient time can always be arranged for parents to share their interests and see their child’s work if a member of staff is not readily available.

The school uses the National Curriculum document as the basic structure to develop the 3 core subjects and the foundation subjects. Regular assessments and evaluations are made to record and monitor progress. Children at the end of Key Stage 1 (end of Y2) and Key Stage 2 (end of Y6) take part in the National Assessment procedures (SATS).
