Front entrance of the school

Ysgol y Fron is a County Junior, co-educational day school catering for pupils between the ages of seven and eleven years with some 175 on the roll at present.  The pupils are organised into seven mixed year classes and a Resource Centre for County allocated pupils.

Pupils transfer to Ysgol y Fron at the age of seven years from Perth y Terfyn Infants School, which is situated close by.  At the age of eleven years, pupils in the normal course of events transfer to Holywell High School.

The school has recently undergone a programme of remodelling resulting in improved facilities which will greatly benefit the pupils.

ACTIVITIES

At Ysgol Y Fron we believe that opportunities for children to participate in and enjoy a variety of extra-curricular activities is very important.  In a sporting context the school has decided to organise these in two discrete sections.

Participation Sport - In these activities we will arrange a variety of open opportunities in order to ensure that all children can participate in the extra-curricular sports that they wish to experience. e.g. soccer, netball, hockey, cricket, rugby, golf, tennis and creative dance.

Success Sport - In these activities we will select the children on ability.  The objective being for the school to be successful in competitive sport.

The school will endeavor to provide a balance of these two types of extra-curricular activities.  Naturally, all children will have equal access to all the activities offered.

SCHOOL PROSPECTUS

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome is extended to your child and we trust that he/she will have happy and fruitful years at Ysgol Y Fron.

The pupils are organised into seven mixed year classes.  The school's organisation is reviewed annually and may be modified to accommodate changes in pupil numbers.  There is also a Resource Centre with pupils being allocated a place by County.

We endeavour to provide a happy, caring learning environment.  By providing a broad and balanced curriculum we aim to develop each child's full potential.  Provision for the social, emotional, spiritual, physical and aesthetic needs, is too, an objective for which we aim.

“The school promotes pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development well. The head teacher, staff and governors are successful in creating a caring ethos built on consideration and respect for others”

  Estyn Inspection 2005.

Your involvement with your child’s education is crucial and we will provide frequent opportunities to keep you informed about the ways in which we are working with your child.  Parental involvement at all levels is encouraged and if you have any spare time to come into school to help, you will be made very welcome.

Should you require this or any other information in alternative format, this can be provided, on request, as school is able to use the expertise of the LEA Advisory Service.

We look forward to establishing a close working relationship with you.

Yours sincerely,

  R.A. Owain - Ashbrook B.Ed. Adv.Dip.Man.

  Headteacher
