History & Excellence Why choose Aberdeen? What can I study? (Undergraduate) What can I study? (Postgraduate part 1) What can I study? (Postgraduate part 2) Fast Facts Where will I live? How much will university cost? Are there any scholarships? What learning resources are there? What about support for students? Can I study abroad?

Are there any scholarships?

Unless you have savings or generous parents, you will probably have to rely on a student loan as your main source of financial support. Winning a scholarship can be an effortless way of boosting your income. Though the competition for all of the following scholarships is high it is definitely worth applying.

As we recognise that being a student can be costly, we have scholarships worth £1,000 for every year of undergraduate study for the length of your degree. Awards are split between merit awards, for students with exceptional academic qualifications, and access awards, for students who might find it difficult to enter higher education without financial support.

All UK-based applicants for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University can apply. Scholarship information and application forms for September 2007 entrants are now available. For more information on our Entrance Scholarships click here.

We also operate a number of scholarships in the following areas:

Sports Scholarships

The John Robertson Scholarship

The John Robertson Sports Scholarship is worth £3,000 per annum and is available to a full-time student entering the University of Aberdeen for undergraduate studies in 2007. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and commitment to their chosen sport, who, without financial assistance, would be unable to pursue their studies at the University of Aberdeen. One scholarship will be available for the 2007/08 academic year. The closing date is 31 August 2007. Full details are provided in the documents below.

Over ten sports bursaries are awarded every year to students of outstanding ability in a particular sporting field. The awards are open to both undergraduates and postgraduates studying any discipline. For more information and an application form please contact Sport and Recreation Services on 01224 272318.
