From 16 August, the University of Bedfordshire’s Clearing team will be on standby to offer you support and advice. We can help you get onto a course that’s right for you, answer questions about financial support and tell you all you need to know about studying here.
The University of Bedfordshire has enjoyed a vast array of success since launching only 12 months ago. We have leapt a massive 24 places in the 2007 Times Good University Guide and, according to UCAS, there has been a 41.2 per cent increase in applications for the academic year of 2007/08, placing Bedfordshire at the top of the universities league table.
Bedfordshire has also been commended for its high-quality teaching. The University was rated top for teaching among new universities in 2003 and 2004, and more recently, the Guardian 2007 league tables have rated us 3rd in the UK for Media and 12th for Sport related courses.
The University has recently undergone a ?60m redevelopment programme at the Luton and Bedford campuses, and now offers innovative state-of-the-art facilities such as our ?1.2m 'Business Pods' and our award winning ?3.3m Centre for Excellence Teaching and Learning.

Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations
If you study Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations at the University, you will have access to our specialist facilities – the Gemini suite. The suite is designed to encourage creativity and offers hi-tech, interactive equipment to assist with your studies.
These courses also offer you the chance to study brand management, copywriting, consumer behaviour, media, direct marketing and much more. Our graduates are highly successful and employers never fail to be impressed by their knowledge, skills and first-hand experience.

Art and Design
Design teaching at the University has been rated “excellent” by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
We have a new print-making facility that includes a fully-equipped water-based silkscreen studio and facilities for woodcutting, relief-printing and photo-etching, as well as a spacious computer studio for the production of photo mechanical and digital processes. We run a range of exciting courses which will allow you to pursue your creativity and sharpen your expertise.

Biological and Biomedical Sciences
We are able to offer students the opportunity to work within modern, well-equipped laboratories. You will also have the chance to work within the National Health Service (NHS) laboratories. Most of our staff conduct research or other professional activities and regularly present their findings at local, national and international conferences.
Having run courses for more than 30 years, the department boasts a of experience in Biosciences. The Biomedical Science is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) and is also approved by the Health Professions Council (HPC).

Business, Management, Finance and Accounting
All of our courses have a strong international focus and even offer the chance to study abroad for a semester, preparing you for the world of work within the global economy. Each of the Business courses also offers the opportunity to complete work experience placements.
The Business School’s high-quality facilities not only enhance teaching quality but guides students’ learning towards 21st century business expectations. The new resources, such as the new ?1.2m 'Business Pods,' provide a one-of-a-kind leaning experience that will improve your employability.

Computing and Information Systems
We offer a flexible approach to learning and you don’t need to have qualifications in IT to study as an undergraduate with us. Computing students study a selection of specialisms during the first year, which include, Artificial Intelligence, Games Development, Graphics, Internet Computing and Robotics.
Our computing labs are the envy of many universities in the UK, having expanded by more than 100 per cent over the last four years. There has recently been investment into new hi-tech facilities . Computing students now have access to more than 300 workstations, 11 labs, and wide range of robotic equipment.

Education and Teaching
The School of Education is one of the largest providers of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in the UK and boasts a 100 per cent graduate employment rate. We have well-established links with more than 500 primary and secondary schools and are constantly at the forefront of educational developments.
On-the-job training is an integral part of be becoming a teacher, and so you will be placed in a diverse mix of schools, from small rural to large comprehensives, providing you with a real classroom environment to refine your skills.

English Studies, Language and Communication
The English courses offer an ideal balance between traditional and more innovative areas of study, from Shakespeare to African Literature. Students recently rated the English programme as one of the best in Britain in the latest National Student Survey.
If you study Language and Communication, you will benefit from a large Language Centre and well-qualified, experienced staff. We have a friendly team of tutors, including specialisits in Business English and English for academic purposes.

The School of Law is a small, friendly and vibrant teaching unit. We offer a rich and diverse learning experience that develops your potential. The courses equip you with the necessary skills that are essential for the modern commercial world, as well as providing life-long skills.
By studying law, you will learn how to discipline your mind and consider possibilities to their widest application. At the same time, you will also grasp the wider application of legal knowledge.

Media and Performing Arts
At the School of Media, Art and Design, and the Department of Performing Arts, we aim to produce world-class practitioners for the creative industries. The Guardian 2007 league tables recently placed the University as 3rd in the UK for Media courses. We provide excellent facilities, innovative courses and committed teaching.
Many of our graduates have gone on to find success as TV and radio presenters, filmmakers, scriptwriters, video producers, graphic designers, interior designers, photographers, and freelance artists.

Nursing and Health
Nursing at Bedfordshire is among the top 50 courses in the country, according to the Guardian, and based on the results of the 2005 and 2006 National Student Surveys. You will gain theoretical knowledge during study days, which are held at the University sites and the hospital education centres.
Each centre is fully-equipped with a library, IT suite, classrooms and seminar rooms. You will also gain practice knowledge and first hand experience through undertaking a series of placements in local NHS hospitals and community settings.

Psychology
We have an international staff body with a collection of extensive research and teaching interests in all aspects of psychology, but with a particular emphasis on health psychology and criminal psychology.
The department offers a range of excellent, high-quality facilities that are exclusive to psychology students. Employers value the skills of psychologists, in problem-solving, researching and analysing. Our graduates have gone on to achieve successful within a wide variety of careers.

Social Sciences
Social Sciences offer a range of exciting courses that will prepare you for employment as a qualified social worker, youth and community worker and more. We focus on the social context of human need and behaviour, human services and skills required to work with disadvantaged people.
You will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a variety of careers such as the police, probation office, youth and community worker and caring and residential home management.

Sport, PE, and Leisure and Tourism
The School of Physical Education and Sport Science provdies high-quality PE and sport science training, and is the largest provider of secondary PE teachers in the UK. The Guardian recently placed us 12th in the UK for Sport related courses.
Our sporting facilities are second-to-none, and in 2007, we opened a state-of-the-art ?8m Physical Education and Sport Science Centre, which boasts an array of hi-tech equipment.
If you study leisure, tourism or sport management, you will be part of one of the most highly rated departments in the country in terms of research. On most of our courses, we also offer the chance to work or study abroad.
