Part-time undergraduate students - financial support in 2007/08

You don’t have to get into debt to study for a University of London degree at Birkbeck. Birkbeck has more money than ever to help part-time students finance their course.

Government support

There are various government funds you can apply to, including:

  1. Government fee and course grants: There is money from the government to help pay your fees and to support you in paying additional course costs.
  2. Additional Fee Support Scheme: if you are eligible for a Government fee grant and it doesn’t cover the full cost of your tuition fees, Birkbeck can top this up to the full amount.
  3. Access to Learning Fund: this is designed for students who are eligible for a Government course grant, but need additional help with course costs.

Birkbeck support

Even if you are not eligible for Government fee grants, Birkbeck has other financial support available to ensure that lack of finance does not prevent you from studying:

  1. Birkbeck Student Opportunity Bursary: this fund offers non-repayable bursaries of £1500 per year available for the full four years of a first degree on our Bloomsbury campus.
  2. Birkbeck, Stratford bursaries: these are available to assist with study-related costs for students studying at Birkbeck, Stratford.
  3. Birkbeck College awards: these are available to assist students who are not eligible for Government support.

We believe that lack of finance should not prevent you studying. If you want to talk to a member of our staff about our financial support options, please contact our experienced Student Financial Support team.
