Welcome to Hope Valley College. We are a small rural comprehensive school of 570 students aged 11 - 16 in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, England. The College has traditionally been the focus of community daytime and evening learning. Some 500 adult students are engaged in learning at the College each week.

Many of our daytime students (aged 11 - 16) and their families live in rurally isolated villages scattered throughout the Hope Valley. Public transport is poor and transport in all forms can be difficult in winter.

We were originally awarded Specialist Technology College status in July 2000. When the time came to renew this we successfully applied to become a Technology and Arts College, which has been our status since September 2005. Our aims as a specialist school are to improve the teaching and learning in College, to provide a centre of technological and artistic excellence for the Hope Valley and to work with our partner Primary schools, local Secondary schools and the wider community to enrich the educational opportunities available.

The ethos of the College is one of mutual respect between staff and students. The Student Council are involved in staff appointments and the creation of relevant College policies. They will be happy to receive
e-mail communication from other similar student organisations across the world. Staff have high expectations of the students. High quality pastoral care underpins and supports their learning.

I hope you enjoy your visit!

Mr B Hunter,
Principal

VALLEY SPORTS COMPLEX

The Valley Sports Complex is a new sports facility situated at the rear of Hope Valley College. Our complex boasts a 2 court pitch and a 3 court pitch with floodlights, this enables sport and physical activities to continue during the dark winter months. We have courts and pitches for hire suitable for hockey, tennis, football, netball and basketball. Our indoor gym is suitable for aerobics, dance and other non-ball striking activities and is also available for hire. We have a concessions policy for junior clubs and development sports that meet the criteria of the facilities management committee.
