We welcome all children aged from 4 to 7 (years R to 2) into our main school, with part-time places for 4 year-olds at our 'Stepping Stones' pre-school.
All Saints' first opened as an infants school on it's present site in 1967.
Since then there have been major improvements and extensions to the buildings and grounds, with the children actively involved in improving their environment through the creation of our 'Millennium Garden', planning the playground markings and other projects.
Well supported by the local community, and situated within easy walking distance to 'The Byes' parklands, the town and the beach, the school can provide plenty of opportunity for our children to extend their studies beyond the classroom. Regular visits and trips enhance the children's learning, and visitors from the wider community are invited into school to broaden the children's experience.
We place a strong emphasis on teaching the skills and knowledge outlined in the National Curriculum, and the staff recognise and reward the efforts and achievements of all pupils, irrespective of their abilities.
In addition, we aim to build a school where youngsters learn the importance of community. Children in year 2 who show particular concern for others are presented with a 'buddy badge', and other pupils know that the buddies can be relied upon to help them if they are hurt, looking for a friend or in need of assistance. For all children a reward system is used which encourages such qualities as kindness, helpfulness, caring for others or setting a good example.
To provide a caring, stimulating and supportive Christian environment in which young children are able:

to develop positive qualities of human feeling and imagination, and an appreciation of human achievement and endeavour

- To equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to keep safe and live positive, successful and healthy lives.
The school is currently organised into four classes, staffed by two part-time and four full-time teachers. The teachers are supported by four full-time and two part-time learning support assistants and an administrator. The school also benefits from the invaluable work of volunteer helpers from the parents and wider community.
In addition to the four main classrooms the children also have use of the school hall, large library, television room and two further group teaching rooms. The main corridor is spacious enough to allow for group work, art activities etc. and there is a large covered area running parallel to the corridor that can be used for sand-play, water-play and other outdoor activities.
Each classroom is equipped with two computers, and additional machines are located in the library. All classrooms have large interactive whiteboards with connections to the internet.
We admit boys and girls of infant school age from all over the Sidmouth area. Children from outside this area are admitted providing that there is space and on the understanding that parents make themselves responsible for transport. New admissions start school in either September (for children having a birthday between September and February) or January (for those with birthdays between March and August).
We have a pre-school group on site called ‘Stepping Stones’ which provides excellent opportunities for children to become familiar with their peer groups, the school and its staff during the months prior to starting school full time.
Children are invited to spend an afternoon in the school at the end of the term before which they are admitted, in order to meet together with their teacher and new class.
Once children have been in school for a few weeks, their parents will be invited to spend an hour after school one afternoon to talk to the reception teacher about the work of the class.
Visits to the school are also arranged for the playgroup children and their parents.

The children are encouraged to play an active role in the community. They sing carols for local residential homes and in the town library, collect Harvest gifts to be distributed locally and regularly take part in fundraising activities for charities and local competitions including 'Sidmouth in Bloom'.
Following consultation with the parents and children we have recently introduced a range of after school clubs which are led by school staff and run until 5.00 p.m. At present the children enjoy art and craft ( Alice : 'I really, really, really liked making the clay jug and doing tie-dye.' Lotte: 'I liked it when Daddy's t-shirt was dyed pink!'), 'Food Fun' (Ethan: we made fairy cakes and jam buns and crispy flapjack.' Danni: 'My favourite was the flapjack and I liked getting messy making it'.) and sports including tag-rugby (Jake W: 'We run through the ladders and sometimes we play hopscotch and make a star and do throwing and catching the ball'. Further extra-curricular activities include the 'Fun French' club 'KinderKlub' (German), learning to play the recorder and for the Reception children regular sessions are provided at Sidmouth Swimming Pool.
During the year, each class teacher will also plan a number of trips and visits to support the work undertaken in subjects such as History or Science. This may involve walking to a site in the local area or travelling further afield by coach to places such as Paignton Zoo, Broomhill sculpture park or 'Bygones' Victorian Museum.
