Welcome to Bere Alston Primary School

We hope you find the information interesting and helpful.The school is a large village primary of about 200 children. There are 7 classes, one for each year group.

Our aim as a school is to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere in a safe, caring environment, where children will be happy and successful. To achieve this, it is important that the school and home work together in partnership.We hope that you find us, as a school, friendly, approachable and open.As this site grows, we hope you will visit it regularly and suggest other information that would be helpful.

Bere Alston is one of the oldest village primary schools in Devon.

In 1665 Sir John Maynard opened a school for boys. This building now houses our staffroom, Year 6 classroom and the Special Needs Room.

In 1912 a further building was added to the school.

In 1995/96 a new extension was added to the existing building which provides the school with 6 classrooms and a Community Sports Hall. One of the classrooms is now an I.T. suite.

We also have very good outdoor facilities. These include a large playing field, two large playgrounds, environmental / pond area and a quiet area for children to sit.
