Welcome!!!

Small teaching groups, small tutor groups and a small community means that we get to know all of our students as individuals and can work effectively to help them achieve the success their ability warrants in a safe, and friendly learning environment.

We are a visual arts college, specialising in Art & Design (including Creative Textiles and Photography), Drama and Media Studies. This enables us to continue to raise achievement even further in these subjects, and across the curriculum using innovative and specialist skills to share good practice within the Dartmouth Learning Network and further afield. Teaching staff and support staff, parents and students working together as a team are vital to the success of our college. We encourage continual contact with, and input from, parents. Formal review days are organised each term and staff can be contacted whenever needed. Students are well known and supported by all staff, a feature our students were keen to share with Ofsted and about which we are very proud.

HOUSE SYSTEM

There are two houses, Wood House and Darling House. Each tutor group and every member of staff in the College belongs to one or the other. A house points system has been introduced, and there are many ways points can be collected: good work stamps, involvement in school activities on and off site, Sports Day, competitions, behaviour and attendance. All of this makes for a healthy competitive working environment for both staff and students, who have great fun earning points. Each week, house assemblies are held where certificates are presented. There is also a weekly update on house points to keep students and staff aware of how well they are doing.
