Welcome to Ermington Community Primary School

We're a happy parish school nestling in the South Devon countryside. We're home to 150 pupils during a normal busy school day, and afterwards, return them to their families in Ermington and surrounding villages.

SHARED VISION

Our aim is to make Ermington School a caring, vibrant and viable School in which all children can aspire to their full potential.

CURRICULUM

We believe that our children will learn most efficiently when the following elements are present:

  • Children need to be in a secure, happy and stimulating environment.
  • Our School is at the heart of the community and by ensuring that we foster all that is best in being part of the community, we can be certain that our children will grow up to be effective, happy and motivated adults.
  • We believe education is a shared experience which is why we aim to make our School as open as possible to parents and friends.
  • The curriculum should not only provide children with essential life skills, but should also be the vehicle through which children are able to discover themselves and develop their potential.
Full School Curriculum documentation and the Devon Curriculum Statement are available to you in the School. The latter is also available from the Area Education Officer.

KIDS` CLUB

The School’s Kids’ Club is a safe, enjoyable and stimulating place for your child to go after School. As far as possible, children are able to choose their own activities - from art and craft, sports or games, to quiet reading on their own. Each child is offered a drink and a snack during a Club session. Any child between the ages of 5 to 11 years from Ermington School can attend the Club. It is fully inclusive. It is run by experienced and carefully selected staff who are employed by the Management Committee. It’s a place for children to play when their parents are working, studying or involved in activities where they cannot collect their children. It gives parents peace of mind knowing that their child is receiving quality care in a secure environment.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

The staff at Ermington are very committed to the needs of the children and give freely of their own time to organise a wide variety of clubs. We are also delighted with the level of enthusiasm for these clubs, shown by the children, which is a tribute to the energy that teachers put in to them. Currently, the clubs on offer include variety club, sports – football, cricket, netball, tag rugby, music, drama, I.C.T, guitar, sign language and digital art / animation.
