WELCOME!!!

We are a small school, but one which cares greatly for all of our children and community. Everybody connected with Hawkchurch School believes that our small size is a huge advantage. It enables us to ensure that our children are given the best possible start to school life. Our curriculum is wide and varied with all of our children being given many different opportunities to enhance their learning within an environment that is welcoming, safe and secure.

WE OFFER OUR CHILDREN AND THE COMMUNITY:

  • Small class sizes and excellent teacher to pupil ratios.
  • A close and caring education where individualism is valued and encouraged.
  • A full and wide curriculum which is enhanced with many other activities.
  • Highly committed, motivated and enthusiastic staff.
  • Peaceful, tranquil grounds set in an area of outstanding national beauty.
  • We are home to the village playgroup who meet in our hall.
  • Close links to other schools in the area - both secondary and primary.
  • Regular participation in events with other schools.
  • Swimming on a weekly basis throughout the year.
  • We are extremely well resourced and make great use of technology to assist our children in their learning.
  • Staff who value and respect the huge contribution made to the life of our school by parents.
  • A range of extra curricular clubs.
  • A willingness to have children in school before the official start of the school day to help parents with work commitments.
  • Lots of outdoor space for PE, outdoor learning and fun.
  • A school swimming pool to use in the summer.

CURRICULUM STATEMENT

We accept that education within the school is dependent upon a satisfactory relationship between the teacher and child and also upon an environment where each child feels safe and secure. Therefore, the main aim of this school, is to aid each child through the relevant stages of maturation so that, other agents doing their part, he/she may grow into a self-sufficient person, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and socially.

This self-sufficiency would allow him/her to lead a full satisfying life, relating to other people and their feelings, to be an asset to and enjoy the society in which he/she is living, to earn a living and to relax in a manner pleasing to him/her.

We work hard to give children as wide and as rich a curriculum as time and capabilities allow. This will include the requirements of the National Curriculum Statements. The relevant documents may be viewed by any parent. We are very happy to discuss the curriculum with you at any convenient time.
