WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

Ivybridge Community College is a large and successful Specialist Sports College that has been awarded a second Specialism in Science and Mathematics, aswell as a third specialism in Languages. It is situated on the southern slopes of Dartmoor and draws students from a feeder area covering over 100 square miles of the South Hams. There are a total of 14 partner primary schools.

The College, which is a very popular and successful institution offering a range of outstanding facilities and opportunities to students from 11-18, is over-subscribed in most Year groups.

LEARNING

Students enjoy their learning in an active and vibrant community, engaging with enthusiasm in a diverse and enriching extended curriculum.

We know students enjoy their learning and are proud of their College. Our students comment on the quality and variety of teaching methods, and we have a culture of research and reflective practice involving students to improve teaching and learning.

Our curriculum is enriched and enhanced through a vast range of other activities. Involvement in sports and recreational activities is exceptionally high, and there is a high demand for Outdoor Education and extra-curricular activities. The summary of press releases each year shows the huge number of diversity of these activities and student achievements. Parents comment regularly on the extensive provision the College provides

ADMISSIONS

Admission criteria are laid down by Devon County Council and because of the popularity of Ivybridge Community College, places are normally only offered to children in Categories 1 and 2 (although children in other categories sometimes succeed in gaining places later in the year). Parents seeking places for their children in Years 7 - 11 should contact the College Admissions Officer; for the Tertiary Sector they should contact the Director of Tertiary Education.

STUDENT CARE

Students need to be happy if they are to become good learners and at the heart of our care for students is our relationship with the parent.

The College continues to develop effective systems to ensure the highest levels of safety and welfare of all students.

Students say we care about their well being and parents feel involved in supporting the progress of their child through effective structures that are in place for consultation from Year 5 onwards. This ensures that parents are continuously updated and informed about how they can support their child’s academic progress and personal development.
