WELCOME!!!

Kentisbeare is a thriving village Primary School founded in 1793. It is a Church of England Primary School and still maintains the principles of its foundation. Christian values underpin the aims of the school.

Our caring, stimulating environment aims to develop each child's full potential. We encourage and expect high standards in both work and behaviour.

We make our school personal - every child and adult matters here.

AIMS

Our aims are based on the five outcomes outlined in ‘Every Child Matters' delivered within a Christian Ethos.

Be Healthy

To ensure that every child has the opportunity, through physical development, mental and emotional education and support, to learn what it really means to be healthy.

Stay Safe

To learn what it means to be safe through our ‘Personal, Social and Health Education' programme. To feel safe through the support and guidance of named professionals within the school, eg School Listener, Child protection Officer.

Enjoy and Achieve

Through a stimulating and challenging curriculum, alongside extra-curricular activities offered to all pupils, we encourage all our learners to enjoy and achieve their full potential at school.

Make a Positive Contribution

Children are encouraged to take part in some decision making within the school, eg the school council. We support the children in learning positive behaviour in and out of school, encouraging them to choose not to bully or discriminate. We foster independence and help the children to develop self-confidence to meet life's opportunities and challenges.

Achieve Economic Well-being

Every child is able to take advantage of all opportunities to develop self confidence and learning skills to equip them for the future.

CURRICULUM

Pupils follow the National Curriculum which provides the opportunity to acquire a broad and balanced range of knowledge, skills and understanding according to their individual needs and academic ability.

The actual teaching time, excluding acts of worship, breaks and registrations, is 21 hours per week in Key Stage 1 and 23.5 hours in Key

The subjects are not taught in isolation. Wherever possible learning is linked by planning through topics. We believe that if children are to gain maximum benefit from their school experience they need to be able to work in a happy, caring environment where they may grow in confidence, where they may be helped to develop a concern for others and where they can achieve daily successes in a wide range of enjoyable activities.

Kentisbeare School cares for its children by supporting them to develop a sympathetic and caring attitude to their fellow pupils and all adults they may come into contact with. Kentisbeare School promotes citizenship and we have a School Council giving the children a voice in decision making in the school. Stage 2.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

We place a lot of value on extra-curricular activities and believe strongly that they are an essential ingredient of the education that Kentisbeare School provides.
