Kingswear Community Primary School
Lower Contour Road, Kingswear, TQ6 0BJ, UK Dartmouth
+44 (0)1803 752356

Kingswear is a small friendly school with about 50 pupils. We welcome children of all abilities. We consistantly exceed all Government targets for Standard Assessment Tests - both Key Stages 1 and 2.

At the end of Year 6 children can choose between secondary school or take the Eleven Plus for grammar school. We have a good record of passes at 11+ if this suits your child.

Like most of the village Kingswear Primary School is perched on a hillside overlooking the River Dart, in this beautiful part of South Hams in Devon.

With a roll of just under 50 the school is divided into two classes, a Key Stage One class taught by Sara Albon and a Key Stage Two taught by Mark Oakshott and Jo Rhys Jones.

Jenny Hughes is our administrator.

The teachers are helped by two Teaching Assistants, Rosie Rundle and Emma Thackray,

A Babies and Toddlers Group at the school is organised by Sharon Wilson.

We have a small playground and our Sports Field is further up the hill from the School.

Each class room has its own computers as well as there being a separate computer room.

Recently both classes have been equipped with the latest electronic interactive white boards.

Children are assessed at the end of Key Stage 1 (7 year olds) and at the end of Key Stage 2 (11 year olds) using the Government's Standard Assessment Tests or SATS. The majority of children at the end of Key Stage 1 should be working at Level 2 or above. The children are tested in English (reading and writing including handwriting and spelling) and Maths. The majority of children at Key Stage 2 should be working at Level 4 or above in English, Maths and Science.
