Welcome to Musbury Primary School!

Musbury County Primary School was opened on the 4th February, 1878. There were 65 children attending school at the time of opening, and they would have stayed at the school until they reached the age of 14. The first Headteacher was called Harriet Louisa Parslow. A separate Infant Classroom was built in 1956 and was extended in January 1994. At this time indoor toilets were put in to the School House.

We are committed to these principles in our continuing search for the best education for our pupils.

  • which pupils and staff are equally valued in a fair and caring environment.
  • We aim to nurture our pupils and encourage them to do as well as they possibly can. They are encouraged to work co-operatively with respect for others with differing points of view. We recognise the importance of self-esteem and self-confidence.
  • We want our pupils to make a positive contribution to the wider community and be fully prepared for the challenges of Secondary Education and later adult life.
  • Musbury Schools educational partnership is a co-operative process in which pupils, staff, parents, governors and the local community are involved.

We have extensive grounds including a playground, a grassed play area with a climbing frame, built by the parents and financed by the P.T.F.A. Wetpore safety matting underneath was financed by the Governors. There is also a large playing field with fine views of the Axe Valley.

We have recently established a wildlife garden, with a pond, at the front of the school.
