| WELCOME!!!
Silverton School is set on the edge of the village of Silverton in about 2 acres of grounds, with views across the Exe Valley towards Dartmoor. The village is of Saxon origin and boasts many fine historic buildings, three churches, three pubs, shops and a thriving local village community.
The school has been on its present site since 1975. A new classroom and classroom extension were completed in 2001. There are 5 classes catering for pupils from 4 - 11 years. The majority of pupils then transfer to the popular Clyst Vale Community College at Broadclyst.

| We feel that the way in which children are introduced to school is very important. We begin from a basis of close liaison with the excellent local pre-school playgroup. There are regular shared and exchange visits. (Contact the Playgroup on 01392-861353)

| The curriculum in school is in accordance with the National Curriculum, full details can be obtained from the school. The governing body alongside the headteacher and staff have a duty to ensure that a broad and balanced curriculum is delivered.
When children first enter school they will be taught in accordance with the Framework for the Foundation Stage.
As they move through the school they will be given simple home tasks: table-learning, spellings and fact-finding. We are happy for parents to work with their children as we see education as a joint exercise and will be happy to advise on suitable tasks, books and games, should parents need advice. Pupils will be given opportunities to extend their learning through visits, both to the village and to places of interest locally.
The children are taught at a pace and level which suits them individually. Not all children mature at the same rate and tasks are assigned to cater for the needs of the most able and of those who find schoolwork more difficult.
|
| There are a number of clubs run by staff and parents for the children, either at lunchtime or after school. These include: Football, Netball, Pottery, Singing, Speech and Drama (seasonal) and Handbells.
