Teign School is an 11-18 comprehensive, situated in Kingsteignton, a large village to the north of Newton Abbot in South Devon . It has around 1150 students in the lower and upper school and over 150 in the Sixth Form. The school was Grant Maintained from 1993 to 1999. It is now a Foundation School.

Serving the primary school within the Teign Valley area and often further afield, the school is proud of its reputation in the community, and nationally, and draws upon the expertise of a wide variety of teaching and support staff.

Our vision is that students:

  • Will be independent and self-motivated learners
  • Have high aspirations
  • Respect and value themselves and others
  • Are given and accept responsibility
  • Are prepared for a fulfilling future life
  • Will have their individual needs recognised
  • Will make an active contribution to their community

We recognise that curriculum offered at Teign encompasses all the activities that take place. Students learn through all the experiences we provide. We seek to ensure that individual strengths can be nurtured and at the same time we strive to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. We promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our students. Underpinning the curriculum are the school‟s aims which centre on preparation for adult life in a changing world.

The activities which comprise Teign School`s curriculum are available to all. They are relevant to all and are aimed at adding value to an individual`s achievements. Our Specialist Science Status has provided a new impetus and excitement in our curriculum. The benefits of our new status are being appreciated by all students across the curriculum.

Teign School continues to grow and flourish. With a proven track record of student success and excellent examination results the future continues to present new challenges. The aim of Teign Sixth Form is to create a working environment in which all students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

High standards are expected and achieved. Students leave at the end of their Post 16 education with much to offer future employers and Higher Education establishments

Students progress well within the stable and supportive environment of the Sixth Form. It is a hard working, determined and harmonious community. Tutors, subject staff and students have established an atmosphere of trust and openness in which students can develop.

Students choose to continue their education at Teign because it offers what they want and it feels right at this stage in their lives.
