| WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!
The Axe Valley Community College aims to provide an appropriate education for all our students.
We encourage their fullest possible development as individuals, intellectually, physically, creatively and socially.
The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum.
We have high expectations for our students and encourage them to become independent, self-motivated learners with confidence in their own potential.
As well as class work, students are involved in many activities including field trips, sports, local studies and visits.

| The Axe Valley Community College is an LEA maintained 11-18 college which attracts students from across the ability range.
From September 2004, we have been designated as a specialist Business and Enterprise College.
This means there are additional resources for Maths, ICT and all vocational subjects. However, other subjects will not be neglected; they too will benefit from the advantages of specialist status.
September 2000 marked the opening of our new sixth form. We now have an established provision of AS/A2 and vocational post-16 courses. Our sixth cohort of university students will start their Higher Education courses in the Autumn of 2007.
The Axe Valley Community College has a reputation for providing excellent education for the children of the area and forms a vital part of the community.
We aim to provide a rigorous education for all our students, whatever their ability or needs, serving the whole of the Axe Valley and beyond.
We provide specialist help for those who need it and prepare our students for successful adult lives. The quality of our students is often mentioned favourably by visitors and those in the local community.
At The Axe Valley Community College, we value every individual and encourage each person to develop his/her full potential. Students are helped to acquire the qualifications, skills and knowledge relevant to life in a rapidly changing world. We have high aspirations for our students and expect all of them to progress to further or higher education.

| The Sixth Form has been judged to provide above average value added in terms of what our students have achieved in their results and last year’s pass rate was 94%.
Classes are small which allows for an excellent level of support for all students and they are given regular tutorials to ensure they are able to keep up with all aspects of their work. In their tutorials they have the opportunity to discuss their progress and to gain a clear understanding of what strategies will enable them to achieve their full potential. A close eye is kept on their progress by both their tutors and the Head of Year who receives half-termly reports from subject teachers on all aspects of their work. All students take part in a LSPD Programme covering a range of subjects from Study Skills to Citizenship Awareness and includes careers advice and university applications.
The Sixth Form facilities include a large common room for the use of all students, a study room equipped with stand alone computers for general use and networked computers supplied for the exclusive use of Sixth Form students in the library that allow them to access the internet for use in their studies.

| The College provides a wide range of activities covering physical, aesthetic and cultural pursuits.
These take place at lunch times, after College, in the evenings and at weekends.
As well as a variety of peripatetic music lessons available to students, they may also become involved in attending concerts or being commissioned for a wide variety of ‘special occasions’. Music clubs include: a steel band; a jazz ensemble; a choir; a woodwind ensemble and a string ensemble. At the end of the Summer Term, the curriculum is suspended and students and staff work together to provide a wide range of activities and opportunities.

| The Business Centre is a modern, state of the art learning and technology facility that has proved a highly successful venue for IT training events, meetings, Conferences and courses.
You will have access to 18 high spec PCs, broadband internet, Interactive Whiteboard, Video/DVD facilities and full technical support.
The Business Centre was opened on Friday 17 February 2006. As many of you will know, this was the long awaited capital project linked to our status as a Specialist Business and Enterprise College. Although we were awarded this recognition and additional funding in September 2004, it has took just over a year to achieve this fantastic new resource.
