Torquay Community College is situated in the seaside resort of Torquay. It is a non-selective school serving an area where there are schools that select by academic attainment. Throughout the rest of Torbay, there are three Grammar schools, a bi-lateral and a church-aided school. There are also comprehensive schools serving Paignton and Brixham.

The comprehensive values of entitlement and equal-valuing are implicit in all Torquay Community College’s work. We offer a wide range of courses and activities which ensure that individual potential is realised and self-esteem is enhanced. We believe that education is concerned with the whole person, the emotional as well as the intellectual, the spiritual as well as the academic and it is a process which should focus on knowledge and understanding whilst developing skills of team work, problem solving, and communication. We emphasise that education is a partnership; the partners being the students, the College, the parents and the community and that all must be committed to the partnership and ready to contribute so that the process gives maximum value to all involved.

Torquay Community College is a good place to be. It exists to provide the opportunity for all who attend to work and to learn. At Torquay Community College we aim to:

  • Meet everyone’s needs so that all can succeed
  • Provide an enjoyable, exciting and safe environment
  • Develop respect for ourselves, for each other and for the community
  • Celebrate all achievement
