West Exe Technology College is an 11-16 mixed city comprehensive school on the west side of the city of Exeter. Technology College status was first gained in 1996 and the period since then has seen significant improvements in terms of student outcomes, recruitment and community image. We are very proud of all these achievements and have a commitment to further improvements. We believe that students need to be fully challenged and supported within a caring environment if they are to do their best. This commitment is reflected through our everyday work and our vision statement.

From 1/4/07 West Exe Technology College is delighted to be a triple specialism school. We were invited to apply to be a second specialism school in recognition of our achievements and chose to be a Vocational Second Specialism School along side our existing Phase 4 Technology College status. We were also invited to become a Leading Edge school. You can find details of each of these specialisms here.

Learning at WETC is about preparing our students for adult life. It is about valuing individual’s strengths to develop lifelong learning in a culture which promotes a variety of learning styles for students of all abilities.

Education is about so much more than lessons and at WETC when the school day ends many students just don’t want to leave. Ofsted praised students’ involvement in our extra curricular programme saying “they take advantage of a host of clubs and activities.” We aim to provide opportunities for everyone.
