There are too many things that are special about Clayesmore to mention them all in this homepage – the pupils, the staff, the beautiful setting, the top-notch facilities, the excellent exam results, wonderful sport, music and drama – but, as well as all those things, one thing that sets us apart is that we are genuinely a family school that covers the whole age range from 2½ all the way through to 18 – so, the whole family really can come to Clayesmore. That’s because, most unusually, we have both a Prep School (2½ - 13) and a Senior School (13 - 18) here together on the one site.

We are very keen to make sure that all our children have a memorable and positive start to school and you will, I hope, find this a very happy and friendly place to begin something so important. Parents place immense trust is us to help their children settle at school, and to enjoy their early learning experiences. We are completely focussed on nurturing every little boy and girl, so that they are able to get the most of every day at Clayesmore. There’s a real warmth here – and a tremenous sense of fun and energy. When you walk into our lovely new Pre-Prep, you will immediately be heartened by the sounds of confident children busily learning and playing together. You will see idyllic surroundings, too. The Pre-Prep nestles next to a beech wood amidst 62 acres of English parkland.

For over 20 years the Clayesmore Pre-Prep has been providing the best possible start to school life for countless children, many of whom have grown up through the school and have embarked on highly successful and fulfilling lives.

The Nursery (ages 2 ½ – 4), is a natural extension of this. It was established 14 years ago and here pre-school children can also benefit from the best that Clayesmore can offer.

Located alongside each other in brand new classrooms, the Pre-Prep and Nursery is situated amidst country park and woodland on a beautifully designed, self contained area of the glorious 62 acre Clayesmore campus.

Julie Bolger is the Head of Pre-Prep and Nursery and she is ably supported by Jeanette Findon as Head of the Nursery.

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and early years experiences have a direct effect on a child’s future chances. A young child needs a secure, safe and happy childhood. If a family chooses Clayesmore to be part of this we take our responsibility very seriously and we ensure that our Nursery will provide each child with the environment and the experiences that they need to develop, grow and thrive, safely and securely.

At Clayesmore we really do believe that every child is very special and individual and each one is treated with the care and respect that they deserve and given the best on offer.

The After School Clubs programme extends the Pre-Prep school day until 6.00pm. All activities are taught by specialist teachers and all are offered completely free of charge. Children can take part in a rich variety of activities, including:

  • art & craft
  • pottery
  • squash
  • pop dancing
  • gymnastics
  • drama
  • tennis
  • football
  • photography
  • gardening
  • percussion
Equally, those children who wish simply to relax and play with their friends can do just that. A cosy television area, board games, buns and toast are all there for them, just like they would be at home.
