Boarding at Sherborne Prep is great fun! We have two boarding houses, Acreman for the boys and Netherton for the girls. The staff aim to make boarding as enjoyable as possible and there is a real ‘family feel’ to both houses.
During the week, the boarders have the opportunity, after prep and supper, to take part in various games and activities including; cricket, football, uni-hock, table tennis, board games, scalextric as well as other activities. We then have toast and hot chocolate before bedtime.
On Saturdays, if boarders are not involved in matches, we normally go out for a walk and go to Sherborne for some tuck shopping.
On Sundays boarders can stay in bed longer than normal and enjoy a continental style breakfast. This is usually followed by a chapel service, activities, Sunday lunch and then a visit to somewhere exciting. Recent visits have included a trip to Cheddar Gorge Caves, Lazerage, Ten-Pin Bowling, Moors Valley Country Park, Splashdown and fossil hunting at Lyme Regis. At Christmas, the boarders and their parents or guardians have a special Sunday lunch followed by Secret (Agent) Santa and a party.
The boarders are looked after by the Head of Boarding, a Housemistress (Netherton), Matron (Acreman) and three Gap students from Australia and New Zealand. They all make sure that boarders are happy, courteous, independent and proud of being a boarder. We always aim to make sure that both boarding houses offer a friendly, safe, and enjoyable experience for all boarders whether they are full or occasional.
