| ABOUT US
We see all children as precious and unique, and it is through working together within the school’s Catholic, Christian context that governors, staff, parents and friends of the school can best fulfill the needs of our children.
It is through working together within the school's Catholic, Christian context that governors, staff, parents and friends of the school can best fulfill the needs of our children. We aim to give a firm foundation, academically, spiritually and socially, which will prepare them for secondary education and later on in adult life.
We hope that our children will have fond memories of St. Mary's school and will be able to value and think with love and respect of the things they have learned and the friends they have made here.

| "LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU"
St. Mary's aims to build a community in which all members, from any stage in their spiritual development, can grow in the knowledge and love of God and in the realisation of their own worth. We aim to provide a curriculum which is based on the values and attitudes which derive from the Gospels and which is appropriate to the needs of the pupils in the world today.

| St. Mary's is a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided First School under the Plymouth Diocesan Schools Commission. It is a one-form entry school for boys and girls, providing places for children aged four to nine in the Wool, Bovington, Lulworth and Wareham areas. Some 70% of the children are from families permanently resident in the area. The remainder are from service families, whose stay is normally between two and three years. The number on roll is normally between ninety and one hundred and ten, currently (Oct. 06) numbers stand at 108.
|
| The school's curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and takes into account the school's statement of aims and the Dorset Agreed Statement of Curriculum Policy.
We aim to provide a sound grounding in the basic skills of RE, Literacy, Numeracy and Science and for these to be used at First School level in the other curriculum areas of History, Geography, Art, Technology, PE and Music. The use of computers (ICT) is encouraged across the curriculum. Every class is connected to the internet.
