Aitkenbar Primary School
Whiteford Avenue, G82 3JL, UK Dumbarton
+44 (0)1389 763931

Aitkenbar Primary School is in the Bellsmyre area of Dumbarton. We have 170 pupils in eight classes.

Aitkenbar Primary has a welcoming atmosphere and all the staff are very friendly. We have a visiting PE Teacher, a Music Teacher, a Teacher from the Area Network Support Team as well as an I.C.T. / AV Support Technician. We also have various members of support staff .

Aitkenbar P.T.A. was formed in 1991. They have been extremely successful in furthering links between the school and home. Many excellent social events have taken place and the school has benefited from these with the purchase of audio and computer equipment, blinds for classrooms, new curtains for main hall and stage area, tracksuit for sporting events and many fundraising events.

The committee meet in the school every 6 weeks and are always glad to welcome new parents. Minutes and dates of meetings are posted on the notice board at the infant department.

Our school uniform is purple and grey it has an Aitkenbar logo.

Girls wear black or grey skirts or trousers, a purple sweatshirt or cardigan and a white polo shirt that also has the school logo on it. In warmer weather some of the younger girls wear a school dress. Boys also wear black or grey trousers, sweatshirts and polo shirts. Sometimes children can wear a shirt and tie. We wear black shoes with white or grey socks. It is forbidden for us to wear football colours to school. The girls wear purple and white baubles or ribbons in their hair.
