Our vision for Monifieth High School is of a Learning Community offering a variety of opportunities and challenges (curricular and extra-curricular) where all young people can achieve their full potential. We value high standards, and encourage every pupil to strive to achieve their best. A positive ethos of achievement is emphasised where all achievements are recognised and celebrated.

We recognise that Monifieth high School is a Learning Community and recognise the importance of consulting and involving parents in every stage of their child's education. Pupils are regularly consulted (through Pupil Councils and Focus Groups) and can genuinely influence decisions on the running of the school.

From the first day, a sense of responsibility, self-discipline and genuine care for others is encouraged. In other words, we want Monifieth High School to be a learning community.

Care is taken in placing pupils in register classes in S1, making use of information from parents and primary schools. Attainment information from the primary schools is used for ‘Broad band setting’ in English and Mathematics All other subjects are mixed-ability.
