The School is on a spacious, south-facing site off Haslingden Road with stunning views across the Rossendale Valley. It serves the Catholic community of Rossendale and offers comprehensive education to the children of its seven partner schools: St. Veronica's, Helmshore; St. Mary's, Haslingden; St. James-the-Less, Rawtenstall;St. Peter's, Newchurch; St. Joseph's, Stacksteads; St. Mary's, Bacup and Our Lady & St. Anselm's, Whitworth.

It is a Roman Catholic school, conducted in accordance with the rites, practice and observance of the Roman Catholic faith and, as such, takes baptised Catholic children from the Rossendale area. It also accepts other children, especially those seeking a Christian education. The school is an 11 to 16 co-educational school, with a fully comprehensive curriculum that is well matched to the needs of each individual child.

The school itself is pleasantly presented and includes many specialist facilities including wellequipped Science Laboratories, Design Technology workshops, Art and Design Studios, a Music & Media Studies suite, School Chapel and an Information Communications Technology Room. Most subject areas have specialist classrooms, located close together and including ICT facilities, as this aspect is taught across the curriculum, in addition to being taught as a separate subject. There is a new Library centre and PE changing rooms. We also have a Gymnasium. The school hall, as well as acting as the centre for assembly and liturgy, provides for dramatic productions with its well-equipped stage and as a second indoor games facility. The Music & Media Studies suite has also been refurbished providing two soundproof practice rooms.

A new Modern Foreign Language Centre – The Fishwick Centre - has been built as part of the development of the school as a Specialist Language College. This provides four specialist Language teaching rooms, including a computer suite. All are equipped with interactive whiteboards. There is a resource centre linked to the Library. The centre is used for Adult Language classes in the evening.

A variety of clubs are active to give all pupils the opportunity to extend interests, for example, astronomy, computing, science, badminton, fitness centre activities and table tennis. Holidays, outdoor pursuits, camps and day outings, are a feature of the school year, and visits to theatres and concerts take place. In addition, pupils are encouraged to take part in and represent the school in physical activities, inter-school quizzes, public speaking competitions and school dramatic productions.
