THE MISSION OF THE SCHOOL, working with parents and parish, is to create a Christian environment in which young people are encouraged to grow in faith and moral responsibility, and to develop as whole persons striving to reach their full potential through hard work, academic standards and service to others in response to the values of the Gospel.

The Unit will provide 2½ hours of preschool education from 9.00 to 11.30 a.m. and 2½ hours 12.45 to 3.15 Monday to Friday. The curriculum will be planned according to the Early Learning Goals, which are also taught in our reception class. The nursery unit will form an extension of the school’s high quality early years provision and will be overseen by Mrs McAllister, the school’s Early Years Co-ordinator.

The cost for 2½ hours will be £8.20 . This can be paid for with your nursery vouchers. Every child who has reached the age of 3 is eligible for nursery vouchers.

The nursery will be accommodated in the after school care building, which has its own facilities. The building complies with Ofsted requirements for the care of children from the age of 3.

In addition to supplying the National Curriculum Alston Lane Catholic Primary School provides extra-curricular activities which help to give the pupils a wider experience through sports, cultural and social opportunities. Most of these take place out of school hours and most are run by parents, staff and others on a voluntary basis.
