| ABOUT US
Ansdell Primary School is an eight class Primary School which accom-
modates 250 children within the 4-11 years age range. At Key Stage 1 all
classes will be below 30 in size for the whole of the timetable. At Key
Stage 2, some classes may be reduced in size by employing an additional
teacher. The school serves principally the Ansdell and Fairhaven areas of
Lytham St. Annes, but some children travel from Lytham and St. Annes.
|
| To develop the whole child by fostering qualities of mind, spirit, feeling and imagination in a caring atmosphere.
To create a happy, stimulating and ordered environment
in which children may grow and develop according to
their abilities and where they may fulfil their potential.
To provide a caring and compassionate community
which will assist the children in their learning and in
their relationships with each other.
To develop within the children a respect for their
teachers, parents and adults in authority.
To develop and encourage a sense of responsibility
and loyalty to the community of Ansdell Primary School.
|
| The school is organised into four Infant (Key Stage 1) and four Junior
(Key Stage 2) classes covering the full Primary range. These divisions are
based mainly on the age of children though they may be subject to variation
at times in order to make the best use of the teaching staff available for
the greatest benefit to the children. At Key Stage 1 to ensure all classes
are below 30, 4 classes have been created. In order to support the work of
the class teacher classes may also receive additional help from a support
teacher so that children may be given extra individual attention when
necessary.
|
| The general aims of the curriculum of the school are to extend the
children’s knowledge of themselves and the world around them, to develop
their skills and concepts as individuals and to help them to relate to others.
The school as a community pursues these aims with an emphasis on the
spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social development of
the children. These general aims are not identified within separate areas
of the curriculum but pervade all the work of the school.
