ABOUT US

Archbishop Temple School is a specialist school. Technology College status recognises our particular strengths in Technology, Maths, ICT and Science. In 2006, as a high performing Specialist school we also adopted Humanities status providing an enhanced focus on History and English. The extra resources this provides keep us at the forefront of new technology in all curriculum subjects.

Our Open Learning Centre is fully equipped as are our ICT teaching facilities. We encourage the use of all facilities as part of our extended schools remit. In recognition of our Technology College status, the Governors now allocate ten per cent of our school places on the basis of technological aptitude.

PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

  • we recognise our historic foundation as a Church of England school;
  • we strive to preserve and develop the religious character of the school;
  • we encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith;
  • we promote Christian values through the experience offered to all pupils;
  • we treat each other with trust and dignity;
  • we expect all in the school to value each other’s rights and beliefs;
  • we endeavour to recognise, develop and maximise the intellectual, moral, social, physical, aesthetic and spiritual potential of all involved with the school – pupils, staff and governors;
  • we aim to enable all pupils to discover their individual worth;
  • we monitor and provide for any special educational needs of pupils;
  • we educate all pupils in accordance with the requirements of the National Curriculum;
  • we seek to arouse in pupils a sense of excitement and curiosity;
  • we fulfil the obligations inherent in our status as a Technology College ;
  • we stimulate pupils to search for truth and to think for themselves, and set them on the path of lifelong learning;
  • we prepare pupils for the world of work, and for life in the community beyond school;
  • we require in all pupils a respect for the rules and property of the school;
  • we provide a supportive and stimulating environment in which all staff – both teaching and non-teaching - can grow and gain a sense of fulfilment;
  • we build and maintain links with the primary schools from which our pupils come, and with the educational institutions to which pupils may go.
