ABOUT US

We are a high-achieving college, giving our students an excellent springboard to success. We educate the whole student, providing him or her with top class teaching and also opportunities for growth and personal development.

We are relatively small in size. This means that we are a close and caring community of staff and students. We serve a wide area which includes not just Blackpool but all the major towns and villages of the Fylde and Wyre districts.

CAMPUS

The College is located in a single, quiet and spacious site just outside the town boundary of Blackpool.

The campus contains a number of low-rise buildings, housing our various departments. There are attractive courtyard areas in between the buildings. We have recently invested significantly in new buildings and facilities.

ACTIVITIES

At The Blackpool Sixth Form College you will have the ability to participate in many in school and out of school activities.

  • Performance & Excellence (e.g. American Football, Badminton, Basketball Academy)
  • Recreation (e.g. Book Club, Boxercise, Car Maintenance)
  • Sports Coaching & Leadership
  • Volunteering & Work Experience

CHOOSING A COURSE

Blackpool Sixth Form College has a very wide range of courses on offer. This allows you to select courses which exactly match your interests, abilities and future plans.

There are four main programmes we offer. By “programme”, we mean ways of combining your choices in order to put together a set of courses which will meet your needs and set you up perfectly for the next stage.

All students following Level 3 (Advanced) and Level 2 courses will need to do some Key Skills as part of their programme. This is a national requirement. Those without a GCSE level qualification in ICT will need to do a short Key Skills ICT course. Those without GCSE level qualifications in English or Maths will need to do either GCSEs in these subjects or take Communication or Numeracy courses. All A Level and Advanced Applied students will need to take Level 3 Key Skills in Communication or Numeracy. There will also be opportunities for all students to develop the wider Key Skills e.g. Working with Others, Problem Solving and Improving Your Own Learning.
