ABOUT US

Bury Catholic Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational, day school providing education for children of all denominations from the ages of 3 to 11 years. The school offers an extremely happy environment where each child is treated as an individual. The atmosphere is both stimulating and purposeful.

We have a full-time nursery class and our Early Years Team works hard to ensure that all of our children have positive experiences of social and academic success through a wide range of activities & play.

Mrs. Duxbury runs the thriving nursery with Mrs. Purvis. The children enjoy a vast range of activities to support them in their early learning. The class sizes are small and the dedicated nursery team ensure that the children are very well cared for and are provided with as many memorable, educational experiences as possible in this early stage of development.

Our infant teachers are Mrs. Parry and Miss McWilliams. The infants have a lot of fun and many creative learning experiences are available to them. During one infant Design and Technology project the children in Year 2 made pirate finger puppets. They also learned a great deal about infamous pirates. They read Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Treasure Island' together and became very fearful of Long John Silver!

The Junior Department, otherwise known as Key Stage 2 consists of Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. These are single form entry, small classes. Recently Year 6 built upon their sporting, mathematical and scientific skills during a trip to Ewood Park. Here is the picture evidence!

The netball and football teams play in the small schools league and they also play 'friendlys' against other independent schools.

Gymnastics, dance, games and swimming form part of the school curriculum with additional coaching offered for netball and football.
