ABOUT US

Caton St. Paul's is an aided Church of England primary school situated in the picturesque Lune Valley village of Brookhouse, yet less than ten minutes from Lancaster city centre. Children are admitted from the village of Caton and Brookhouse with a number of children coming from other areas such as Halton, Claughton, Morecambe and Lancaster.

There has been a school on this sight for more than a hundred and fifty years and this long history has ensured that Caton St. Paul's is at the heart of the village community. This is a feature that is special to rural schools and one that fosters an environment of trust and respect. We are proud of this aspect of the school life.

Caton St. Paul's Church of England Primary School exists to encourage and enable every child to achieve their full potential. A caring Christian environment is provided in which children are offered educational opportunities of the highest quality. The school is distinguished by the quality of care its members extend to one another and by the fostering of spiritual development, mutual love, respect and responsibility.

In common with all maintained Primary Schools in England, the school curriculum is drawn from the National Curriculum. The children study the three core subjects of English, mathematics and science, and the Foundation subjects of history, geography, art, design technology, music, P.E. and ICT. Religious Education is taught following the Blackburn Diocesan Syllabus. PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) is also taught throughout the school. The School has been recognised by OFSTED for its outstanding achievement, in its Annual Report, which was celebrated by a visit to Highgrove to meet with HRH The Prince of Wales.
