ABOUT US
Cherry Fold Community Primary School was formed by the amalgamation of Myrtle Bank Nursery, Myrtle Bank Infant, Coal Clough Primary and Hargher Clough Junior Schools. Our school opened on August 1st 2002, and operated on three of the old school sites for two years before moving to our wonderful new site in August 2004. The new school was carefully designed for us, and will help us to offer a quality 21st Century education to the children of South West Burnley.
The school is a two-form entry primary school and also has a nursery class. Our nursery class has twenty-six places both morning and afternoon, and the main school offers education for children aged 4 to 11. We can take up to sixty children in each year group. Many of our classes now have children from two year groups in them. We have done this to offer stability and continuity for our children and staff. All children are taught according to their age, needs and ability within their class.
Our school is totally committed to being inclusive. We have a Nurture Group (The Sunshine Class) for younger children, and a Learning Support Unit (LSU – The Hive) for older children who have significant social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. We also have a Social Inclusion Team in school, which includes a Child Support Worker and a Family Liaison Officer. These staff play an important role in enabling many of our children and their families to succeed.
