| ABOUT US
Crawford Village School is a Community Primary School, which caters for children
aged 4-11 years. It is locally managed with a fully delegated budget. This booklet
has been produced to provide information about our school.
We believe it is very important for parents and teachers to co-operate and work
together to make the education of children successful, worthwhile and enjoyable.
We hope that over the years a partnership will be formed which will enrich your
child’s education.
|
| - Enable the individual pupils to fulfil their potential and develop independent,
inquiring minds in an enjoyable learning environment where every child
matters
- Teach respect for all citizens in our diverse modern society.
- Encourage an open, honest partnership between Staff, Parents, Children and
Governors.
|
| All children at Crawford School follow the Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.
The school has 10 computers for use by the children. We also have 3 interactive white-boards.
They are all linked to the Lancashire Intranet. They are used across the whole curriculum.
At key stage 2 we have a specialist science teacher who takes the class one afternoon per
week.
Years 3 & 4 are taught separately from years 5 & 6 for literacy and numeracy.
The school has a specialist music teacher who teaches both key stage 1 and key stage 2
children. We also have another specialist music teacher who comes in to teach key stage 2
children to play brass instruments. The children are encouraged to perform and the school has
a Christmas concert for parents and local residents. The juniors perform each Summer at the
Up Holland Proms.
As part of our PSHE curriculum we are involved in a behaviour and attendance programme.
Staff and children all take part in implementing the Healthy School Scheme.
We encourage children to enjoy all forms of sporting activity. We hope to develop a
competitive spirit, with the emphasis on taking part. It is important that our children understand
that regular exercise and sporting activities can lead to many social activities and a healthy life
style. |
| We have an after school sports club on 2 days a week.
Year 5 & 6 children are offered the chance to go on a 3 day residential outdoor activity trip. |
