ABOUT US

Our goal is to unlock the potential of all students and staff who work at Falinge Park High School. We learn together, work together and grow together and firmly believe in the notion of “personal best”. We want to build a bright future for everybody. We do this by building on traditional values of respect, tolerance and understanding. We have a firstclass team at the school and want our families to share our ideals.

We recently attained Specialist Performing Arts College Status. We believe that this will develop confidence and a sense of presence in our young people. In turn they will find themselves ready to take on the world outside school. Specialist status will also bring with it new buildings and more money for developing the Arts.

FACILITIES

Our building façade, which dates from the 1930s, is close to the stateofthe art City Learning Centre which shares our site. This neatly encapsulates the traditional values and the modern, forwardthinking approach to education that enables all our students to achieve their potential. We have a wonderful library, refurbished Design and Technology rooms, sports hall, five computer suites and upper and lower school social areas.

KEY STAGE 3

Getting the best from your child Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9) Year 7 students follow our Foundation Curriculum where they have a large part of their timetable in their room with one teacher. This usually involves English and two or more Humanities subjects. This programme of study gives them security and confidence when they move from primary school.

Most of our teaching is in mixedability groups. There is also ability setting throughout the Key Stage in Mathematics. Students study the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science as well as PE, RE, History, Geography, PSHE (including Citizenship), Design and Technology, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Art, Drama, Dance and Information Communication Technology. This is enhanced by teachers who bring in outside visitors, as well as a full enrichment programme of domestic and foreign visits.

KEY STAGE 4

The school offers a wide range of optional subjects over and above the core subjects of English Language, English Literature, Dual Award Science, PE, Mathematics, Short Course GCSE Citizenship and Short Course Religious Education.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

We run a full programme of extracurricular activities, including theatre and other cultural visits, sports’ clubs and teams, domestic and foreign residential visits and a wide variety of sporting and study activities at lunchtime. In recognition of this we have been an “Education Extra Flagship School” for several years. “
