Fleetwood Sports College is committed to the ethos of ‘Achievement For All’. We are all dedicated to nurturing talent, realising potential, encouraging participation and achieving personal best. We are convinced that the knowledge, skills, techniques and confidence gained through involvement with sport, physical activity and challenge are crucial to making this possible. We will give our young people the opportunity to lead and coach others, celebrate success and develop an understanding of the importance of health and well being in their present and future lives. With our College at the centre of the community all will know that sport and physical activity are essential and fun.

Assessing and responding to the needs of the individual learner is crucial to the success of our students. We therefore ensure that our curriculum provides the flexibility, diversity and continuity to meet the needs of all. Workshops and fast track opportunities provide accelerated routes for those who are particularly gifted and able. This includes early entry for some examination courses and Level 3 courses such as AS started in Year 11. For those whose progress may be slightly slower we offer an excellent learning support facility to enhance students’ progress.

Our teaching staff will provide quality teaching and create effective learning opportunities for all, in order that all our students achieve their full potential.

In September 2005 the College was proud to have been granted specialist status. The two subjects of our specialism are Sport and ICT.

We are committed, in partnership with other local colleges and the town of Fleetwood, to developing Sport and ICT in ways which will inspire and challenge. We are confident that we are becoming a centre of excellence for both subjects. Most importantly, Specialist College status will enable us to raise standards across all subjects, recently reflected in our improved GCSE results. Students will be offered opportunities to develop their talents beyond the taught curriculum and our emphasis upon developing a healthy lifestyle will help our students to make choices and develop habits which will ensure their future well being. Skills and interests developed whilst at Fleetwood Sports College will, we believe, last a lifetime.

Our facilities – already superior to many well established specialist colleges – are soon to include a purpose built dance studio, in addition to the already enhanced ICT facilities with one of the most sophisticated college networks in the County, together with an emerging ‘virtual learning environment’ enabling remote access for parents, students and staff.
