ABOUT US

Higher Walton School is a Church of England (controlled) Primary School which offers primary education to children aged 4 to 11 years. A controlled school is one which has a church foundation, represented by its Foundation Governors, but which is maintained by the Local Education Authority. We currently draw pupils from the village of Higher Walton, and from surrounding areas such as Walton-le-Dale, Bamber Bridge and Hoghton.

Our school curriculum places the child at its heart, providing thorough grounding in basic skills and knowledge, developed within a creative context. We believe in giving children as much practical experience as possible.

Children are given a broad and balanced curriculum in accordance with Curriculum 2000. Copies of schemes of work and policies are available in school and parents are encouraged to read them.

Any comments with regard to the curriculum should be made to the Headteacher.

The school is organised into 4 classes. Small groups or individual children may receive specialist teaching from a visiting support teacher if this is deemed appropriate. This is always done with the knowledge and consent of parents.
