| All children follow a programme based on the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 and the Early Learning Goals as outlined in the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage.
We use the National Curriculum as the template on which to frame our curriculum but as an independent school we go beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum and tailor the teaching to match the needs of our children as best we can. As a result we offer French from Year 3, elocution lessons, a full and varied sports programme with inter-school matches, a variety of school visits both locally and for the older children residential activity visits. There are over 30 extra activities and clubs available to the children either during the lunch break or after school.
|
| The nursery accepts children from 2 years. Qualified nursery staff provide a carefully planned and well structured programme of activities where the emphasis is on learning through play, enjoyment and fun.
In each of the 2 nursery groups importance is placed on creating a calm and caring atmosphere where children feel happy, safe and secure.
Children aged 2-3 years are in an adjacent building to the main nursery/school, set in its own gardens and outdoor play area. Inside, the space is divided into a large, attractive, well resourced play area, a generous role play area, a physical development area and a snooze room.
Children aged 3-4 years are in their own purpose built room where learning is based on the Foundation Stage curriculum designed to meet the early learning goals.
The children benefit from an experienced qualified teacher and nursery nurse, who together provide a bright, lively and stimulating atmosphere in which children develop socially, personally, creatively, physically and educationally.
|
| Highfield Priory has a flourishing toddler group, where we offer a fun and friendly environment for the children to develop their social skills. Children, parents, childminders and carers enjoy a wide range of activities in a well resourced room. It provides an opportunity for children and adults to share learning experinces, develop relationships and enjoy a chat. The toddler group also allows our future nursery pupils and their families to get to know each other before they start nursery.
