ABOUT US

Hodgson is a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 16. Our main focus is on high academic standards and we provide a first rate, all-round education for children of all abilities. Examination results at both Key Stages 3 and 4 are consistently amongst the highest in Lancashire LEA and compare extremely well nationally.

As a Technology College, we are committed to providing our students with an excellent education in a technology advanced environment.

Hodgson is nationally one of the highest performing schools, so was asked in early 2007 by the Department for Children, Schools and Families to join the High Performing School Status (HPSS) project. We elected to join a programme called RATL (Raising Attainment Transforming Learning) and through this we share our expertise by working with schools that need to raise their students’ attainment.

EVERY CHILD MATTERS

At Hodgson, we fully support the Government’s drive for change for children as part of the Every Child Matters agenda. Every child does matter to us here and we strive to ensure each child can:

  • Be Healthy
  • Stay Safe
  • Enjoy and Achieve
  • Make a Positive Contribution
  • Achieve Economic Well-being

LIFE AT SCHOOL

The School has outstanding facilities, which provide staff with the latest and best in learning and teaching facilities. We have a magnificent state of the art hi-tech Learning Centre. Underneath its domed roof, learning can take place in many different ways. This vast space can accommodate three classes at once, all involved in different activities. It houses the school library and a suite of 15-networked computers.

Improvements are being made on a continual basis to the school’s buildings and facilities. Among the works carried out in recent times have been revamps to Science laboratories, Design Technology workshops, school kitchens and dining rooms, the assembly hall and a new Learning Support Suite and Applied Learning Centre. Refurbishments have been made to our ICT suites, and interactive whiteboards installed in nearly all of our classrooms to reflect our drive to be at the forefront of new technological advances in teaching and learning.
